Hand Building Plates & Small Dishes - Pottery Class

Ceramics by Hannah and Belmont Potters are delighted to present this exciting hand-building workshop where you will learn various techniques to create beautiful ceramic plates to take home.Don't worry if you're new to pottery - our experienced instructor will guide you every step of the way, ensuring a fun and stress-free experience.Throughout the workshop, you will learn how to use a slab roller and also how to roll out even thicknesses with at-home implements, like a rolling pin. You'll discover the art of forming plates using formers and your own hands, along with mastering at least five different decoration techniques. We'll also enlighten you on proper drying and firing methods to prevent breakage or warping.

By the end of the workshop, you will not only have newfound skills and knowledge in pottery but also a set of beautifully crafted plates to showcase in your home. Let's get creative together!As with all pottery practices, there is a risk of breakage. All care will be taken to ensure this doesn't happen; however, no refund will be offered for broken pieces.

This class is beginner-friendly.
  Students will receive all materials (including clay, colours & transfers), access to all tools, tuition throughout the class & the firing of their pieces. Students may make up to 5 small dishes (12cm across), 3 lunch plates (19cm across) or one of each of the aforementioned, plus a large platter. Water, teas, and biscuits will be provided, too.
  Clothes that can get a little dirty. Enclosed shoes must be worn in the studio. Towels will be provided, but you may wish to bring an apron for extra protection against your clothes.
