What you'll do

Little Wood's open studio sessions are for those who have completed a pottery wheel/hand building class at Little Woods or have previous experience with:

using a pottery wheel/ hand building,
trimming, and
glazing

If you need to learn any of the above, please check out our workshop listings.

This time will be a chance to play, experiment and practise your pottery skills at your own pace. These are self-directed sessions; however, there will be a staff member on-site who knows how the space runs and can answer basic questions.

The class includes:

5.5 hours self-directed access to Little Woods Studio per session, from 10 am-3:30 pm
Use of one pottery wheel
Bench space for hand-building
Space to store greenware and bisqueware
Clay, underglazes, and glazes are supplied (no external clay or glazes, please)
Pottery tools
Access to kilns (firing is charged at $12 per kilo, payable prior to glaze firing)
Kitchen facilities, including a kettle, water purifier, and microwave

Conditions of studio use:

On your first session, you will be given a brief induction to the studio.
Your work area, all tools and equipment must be thoroughly cleaned and put away after use.
No external clay, glazes or dry materials to be brought into the studio. Little Woods supplies clay and glazes.
Kids aged 12-15 can book in on the condition that an accompanying adult is present.
Be respectful of your fellow studio participants.
Safety first: No dry sanding. Closed shoes must be worn at all times. No entry to the kiln.
Refunds or changes: For any changes or refunds, we require a minimum of 7 days' notice.
No shows: Missed sessions are forfeited and cannot be made up.
Little Woods initiated cancellations: Though rare, if we need to cancel an open studio session, we'll offer refunds, credits, or transfer to another date.

Anyone who has completed a pottery workshop or who has experience working with clay in a ceramic studio.
